황하 문명과 중국 역사의 특징 [10분 세계사 역사 지식] – 은나라 상나라 주왕 달기, 갑골문자, 주나라

The most frequently featured countries in modern
social international news are the United States and China. China faces the U.S. in terms of land and economy, drawing constant attention on international issues. There are two theories and they are that China is going to be a threat to other countries or China will collapse due to the many problems of China’s economic growth. In Ten-minute Common Knowledge World Encyclopedia,
I’m going to talk about the ancient civilization, not the future that we don’t know,
but the history of the world. I’m going to talk about
the Yellow River civilization today, following the Egyptian civilization,
the Indus civilization and the Mesopotamian civilization. The four civilizations that we studied through
textbooks and memorized in middle and high school to get good grades are actually criticized for years in the academic world. The four major civilizations refer to
places related to the East and the West but they have never considered the civilizations in
the Americas or sub-Saharan Africa. I will talk about the civilizations other than the four civilizations in the next video. The Yellow River civilization is
a civilization developed in the red clay area of the middle and lower reaches of
the Chinese Yellow River and represents the ancient civilization of China along
with the Yangtze River civilization. Except for the Yellow River civilization, the other three Western civilizations
developed by affecting each other but because the Yellow River civilization is blocked by
the Taklamakan Desert and the Himalayas, it gets to develop independently. It is estimated that the appearance date is
about 1600 B.C., which is the last of
its kind compared to the three Western civilizations. Then, which country did
the Yellow River civilization first exist? We also memorized as HaEunJoo (Xia, Yin, Zhou) to get good grades when
we were middle and high school students, but I don’t really know about the education these days. HaEunJoo refers to the dynasties of Xia, Yin, Zhou. The problem is that the Xia dynasty
only existed in the legend and we don’t have
any archaeological evidence that it existed for real. Now, if you look at
the characteristics of Chinese history, it, unlike conventional archaeology, gives a lot of meaning to the ’causes.’ When you say that there were historical facts, the scientific approach is to
infer the past from material evidence, such as the artifacts human left, as evidence. In Chinese history, when the dynasty changes they use the concept of ‘Mandate of Heaven.’ That is, if heaven intervenes, and the king acts correctly, the dynasty will continue peacefully, or if not, the nation will collapse in a state of chaos. The ancient kingdom of Yin of the Yellow River
collapsed, and as the Zhou dynasty emerged, the mandate of heaven intervened, and as Confucius appeared over time and
asked for wisdom, the king’s virtues became necessary for
the rise and fall of a nation even during the period of the dynasties of
Han, Sui, Tang, Song, and so on. However, there is also a controversy among historians that national power is determined by whether
the king is a good or a bad person is a subjective approach. Let’s start with ‘Xia,’ which is
the beginning of the Yellow River civilization. ‘Xia’, which occurred around 2000 B.C.
and disappeared around 1600 B.C., is a controversial country among
historians from the beginning. As I mentioned earlier for a moment,
“Xia” is a legendary country because there is
no archaeological evidence that it existed. Or, there are words that say,
Xia was created intentionally. Traditionally, the Han Chinese people are
called the HaHwa people, . and the name of
the Han Chinese originates from the name, Xia. We call them the “Xia” culture, but it didn’t exist as a Xia nation. In Xia, there’s a famous man
who is the last king, the Gul King. There is a saying, “Xia gul Yin Zhou,”
the great name of the Chinese tyrant, which means “Gul of Xia” and
“Zhou of the Yin Kingdom”. The king Gul of Xia is known for
his daily feasts and pleasure, and they destroyed Xia. However, rather than the specific evidence, only a short record was left in the box that the vassal had written to
the king in the next country. In other words, because the king of Xia was immoral, God intervened and took the power from Gul which was a justification for
the Yin dynasty to get power. Over time, it was recorded that Zhou, the last king of Yin, fell in love with Daji the beauty, and was
recorded as the most obscene and cruel king in history, who killed those who opposed him and ate them. However, it also has been written in
the old book of physiognomy that says he only did bad things every day,
but has no archaeological basis for its authenticity. Thus, the early part of the Yellow River civilization, the fall of the Xia and Yin dynasty were focused on the morality of the king’s bad behavior, not on foreign invasions, internal strife,
or a change in the natural environment, which gave justification to the later country Zhou. They are justifying it for Zhou dynasty to have power, so the former kings needed to be bad. Chinese history has this repeated pattern. These reasons later characterize Chinese history. And that’s where they associated history with
Confucian moral behavior. The Yin, which was next to Xia, is
the oldest kingdom to be verified empirically, as it was around 1600 B.C. It is also called the Shang dynasty. According to a study based on artifacts excavated, the territory of Shang dynasty was not very wide and most of the Chinese continent was
a jungle, unlike today. There were a lot of wild animals
that we could think of in the Amazon. Tigers, crocodiles, elephants,
and big reptiles were all around. It was about the beginning of the Bronze Age, when humans and many other animals lived together. Since then, it is not until about 700 B.C. that the jungles became plains after the Han dynasty, but still in the Shang dynasty around 1600 B.C., you can imagine the scenery like Amazon. The cultural characteristic of this period is
the highly developed Bronze Age technology. There is an ancient symbol used in religious ceremonies
called ‘The Tao Tieh (Do-cheol) Gate’. It’s from the imaginary animal, Tao Tieh (Do-cheol), and it’s one of four hideous monsters from
Chinese mythology. These monsters are also called
4 evil creatures of the world, but since you’re about to fall asleep here,
let’s take a look at the 4 evil creatures of the world. Each of them inherited the blood of a great king, but because of their innate brutality, they prevented all kinds of goblins from the west. First, ‘Hundun(Chaos)’ is a dog with long hair and always twirls around its tail by biting its tail so it represents the chaos itself. “Taowu” is a monster with
a human face and a tiger body combined and fights until it dies. And the ‘Qiongqi’ as a monster with wings on a tiger, could fly in the sky but it has a bad personality, so it went to the fighters and ate the most honest one, and gave gifts to the wicked. Finally, ‘Taotie’ is a monster with
a sheep’s body and a human face, with a great appetite and a characteristic
that steals other people’s possessions. In these sculptures, which are engraved with Taotie, there are some views
that they were used as objects of totemism, and showed the Bronze Age
features of the Shang dynasty. The country that destroyed
the Shang dynasty was the Zhou dynasty, but the reason for the collapse is
not the immoral aspect of the king, but the neighboring countries,
except the Shang dynasty, must have taken Zhou’s side a lot. I think we can talk about the reasons for that with
the oracle bone script and human sacrifices. The first person to discover the oracle bone script was
Wangyeong, a geologist at the end of the Qing. In 1899, the ancient Chinese
writing system was discovered through the discovery of a mastodon that was purchased as a drug to treat malaria. And after that, a lot of scholars have
been studying the collection of the mastodons by participating in the study of the oracle bone script
from 1928 to prove the existence of the Shang dynasty’s Eunhe, a former capital of Shang dynasty,
was discovered and the existence of Shang dynasty
which was regarded as a legend was proven. The king of Shang dynasty had a strong royal authority
as the host of sacrificial rites and military services, and he did fortune-telling when he had to make
decisions on important matters of the nation. The details of the point are
written specifically in oracle bone script. There are human sacrifices in the oracle bone script too. Human sacrifices were not
only done in ancient China but also in the European Mediterranean Phoenicians, Incas, Aztecs, Mayas, and even the Japan of Asia and Gojoseon of Korea . As time went by, it became illegal. For the human sacrifices in the Shang dynasty, the ‘Lee’ people in the east and the nomadic tribes in
the sheep became the main targets. It was a form of sacrificing to heaven, mainly by killing prisoners of slavery or
other nation’s people. If they could not get a human sacrifice from
another country, they did it to their own people. The method was to transform the human sacrifice into
an animal in the 12 Chinese zodiac signs and perform the ritual in 12 different ways. In the oracle bone script, it’s written when
they caught enemy prisoners, and he used to say, “Can I use this method even though
I am in a high position?” This cruel method appears in Chinese characters. From the chinese character, 目 which means eye, and if you blind a slave, then it became
the character of 民 which means the citizens. Citizens meant the lower classes in ancient societies. Even in the Spring and Autumn Period,
‘People, 人’ were only the ruling class. This sacrificing humans was
carried out to appease the sky if farming was not successful or if there was a natural natural disaster. In addition, due to the various atrocities, the neighboring tribes were not on
the side of the Shang dynasty, but on the side of the Zhou dynasty, which was the main force at the time, and
gradually led to the collapse of the Shang dynasty. Today, we learned about the Yellow River civilization,
characteristics of Chinese history, and the ancient Chinese dynasty called Yin and Shang. So far, it was knowledgeable YouTube with a fun history. It was 10 minute World hisory.
