C&C RED ALERT 2 Yuri’s Revenge – Soviet Mission 5 ESCAPE VELOCITY

In Command and Conquer: Yuri’s Revenge, the story starts off assuming that the Allies were victorious in Red Alert 2. The plot is based around Yuri, the former head of the Soviet Psychic Corps, coming out of hiding to take over the world by using his Psychic Dominators. These devices have the power to mind control everyone in the world. The game begins with a presidential briefing in the White House concerning Yuri and how he has begun his take over of the world through mind control. Yuri interrupts the briefing to explain how he plans to take over the world, telling the American President Michael Dugan that he has a network of Psychic Dominators around the world, which he is now beginning to reveal. One of Yuri’s Psychic Dominators is on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco, which Yuri activates just before ending his transmission to the White House. The President immediately calls in an airstrike on the device, but all the attacking aircraft are shot down although one crashes into the nuclear reactor on the island, causing the device to lose power and to not function. Despite this, Yuri activates his other Psychic Dominators around the world and the majority of the planet quickly succumbs to Yuri’s mind-control. The expansion presents two new campaigns, one for Allies and one for the Soviet Union, each 7 missions long. The missions feature some technical elements absent from Red Alert 2, for example time travel that makes certain missions take place on several different maps. 1. You get immediate kudos from me for using a different strategy than most others. Most people are afraid of assaulting yuri's base because it is too strong and prefer to either rush the submarine pen with a naval force or kirovs, but destroying Yuri's base can be done! Also, what was that fenced in building that was near the high cliff where Yuri's construction yard was? It did not seem like any building yuri's faction normally builds.

  2. A nice strategy in this mission is to base walk from the oil derricks up the hill where the "Secret lab" and Yuri's construction yard is. There you can build a battle bunker for the defence, a barracks and a war factory. Send 5 engineers in a flak truck to capture those prism statues and they will provide further defence. Capture Yuri's construction yard to build magnetrons. Those are exceptionally powerful in this mission. Also build Viruses, those dispatch of Yuri's infantry pretty well. Then, you can base walk down the hill into Yuri's base and kill it with magnetrons and other units. Capturing the secret lab allows you to build desolators but I found them useless in this game. One possible use for the desolators would be to desolate the water so as to kill the Boomers.
