BOOKLET (Copyright 2000, Published by MAETA)

"While Moses was on Mt. Sinai in ecstatic union with God, his brother (and official surrogate) Aaron, led the people into apostasy (primarily liturgical apostasy). Moses returned and punished these apostates severely.

Moses is an antitype of Christ. Aaron is the antitype of the clergy who are now leading men to relate to or worship God in their condemnation. Christ will come again in glory to punish today's (primarily liturgical) "Novus Ordo and trad apostates."

This booklet evaluates proposed ways to avoid apostasy: emphasizing correct religious motivation, "the Law" and one's freedom under the law."

There are three types of TRADS and they are: Novus Ordo, Intra-ecclesial and Extra-ecclesial trad-allegiances.

I will only be covering the Novus Ordo Trad.

"A Novus Ordo trad (a NO trad) is one who has no more than an EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT (emphasis is mine in capital letters) to the Canonized Mass Liturgy. For example, rituals or Latin makes him "feel" good; or he loves to feel nostalgic. A NO trad refuses to confess or profess that Novus Ordo services are AT LEAST GRAVELY ILLICIT (emphasis is mine in capital letters), and that
TWO OPPOSING LITURGIES REPRESENT TWO DIFFERENT RELIGIONS (emphasis is mine in capital letters): one true; the other false.

For example, at present, some members of the Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) and other similarly situated priests try to claim allegiance to two opposing and mutually contradicting masters — the Novus Ordo services and the Canonized Mass Liturgy. Even though such priests may perceive the truth about the Novus Ordo, these NO trads seem to reject the inevitable conclusion that Novus Ordo services are: (1) clearly illicit; (2) evidently disedifying; and (3) conclusively invalid.

"[See footnote (3).] Footnote (3): We cannot cite the presently "unresolved" FSSP (as an intra-ecclesial trad group) since by its very "charter of incorporation," it gave up a firm claim to purity of worship."

Why do we say "conclusively invalid?" Pope Leo XIII condemned ex cathedra Anglican services and ordinals as being invalid. THE NOVUS ORDO SERVICES ARE FAR MORE PROTESTANT (emphasis is mine in capital letters). They are New Age.

Therefore, conclusively, (a fortiori) the Novus Ordo services should likewise be treated as invalid. (See Abbot & Me On Liturgy for a more developed argumentation.) The root cause of the NO trad position stems from the fact that most of them suffer from an exaggerated (and religiously speaking) incorrect concept of love of, or allegiance to, the pope, and especially, to the anti-dogmatic and thus, non-binding policies, pronouncements and allowances of popes responsible for the Novus Ordo tragedy.

As noted, the sede vacantist demands that the pope must be perfect or he can't be pope! For the NO trads, the Novus Ordo must be valid and licit because they, too, believe the pope must be perfect.

However, unlike the sede vacantists, they believe that Novus Ordo popes are such perfect popes. Therefore, any apparent error in governing must be in the eye of the beholder. For them, the emperor is not naked. He merely appears so in the eyes of his critics."

"[See footnote (4).] Footnote (4): NO-TRADS wrongly perceive that the Novus Ordo was mandated by Vatican II. Additionally, they do not understand that merely naming or calling a pastoral paper Dogmatic Constitution of the Church, in no way metamorphosizes
a pastoral council into a dogmatic council. It would take us too far afield to discuss Vatican II at this point."
