  11. I can't believe supply acquisition, for a country-wide crisis, isn't being handled by a centralized dept., i.e., the federal goverment.
Expecting each state to handle it on their own is the most ineffective, asnine, way to handle something like this. Trump keeps bragging he's a business person but this may explain all his bankruptcies. I mean why have one central dept. spend 10 hrs doing something when you could multiple those 10 hrs by 50 [states]. Not to mention that the more affected a state, the more supplies it will need while having the least amount of free time trying to get them since more time will be needed trying to arrange health care workers, find make-shift hospital space, etc.
Gotta love Trump's logic – or lack of.

  12. This is a perfect Time to reenact the hemp for victory act and make their own mask, gowns, and plenty of materials from the best material in the world. Ny state should already be the leader in textiles and should have a private sector that produces ventilators and everything thing else the people of the state pay taxes for. The lottery companies are still taking money witch is over two hundred million and how are they giving back, while it sends the wrong message that is ok to go out to gamble at a time like this when it will help people addicted to gambling to stop cold turkey and use that money on themselves or there families (hopefully). This is Gods way of making us change cold turkey for the better of humanity and I hope the so called leaders listen; because it’s a shame that this planet with all its riches and so called power that it gets taken out by microscopic organisms that we could have prevented in the first place by using anti microbial fibers and using cleaner building materials along with building things that you know people are truly gonna need in times like this. Why haven’t the G7 had a meeting and shift things around to support the globe. We need real leaders and go getters who have strong faith and unity for all life; because that’s the daily issue.

  19. Competing against every other state is not the issue. The issue is that majority of all the raw ingredients for critical medicines and parts for constructing ventilators come from China and the Chinese rather ban all sales to the US to watch them die by the tens of thousands slowly painfully violently as a tit for tat like the trade war and for calling it the Kung Flu.

His entire administration is full of loyalist who won't tell Trump facts or what he should do and just say yes to everything he says no matter how crazy it is and half of the government seats are still empty.

  23. so there you go..you need a lot of socialism to moderate rampant capitalism extremism(in this case)..if you consider homelesness or inequality or health or student debt as an emergency of considerable size as well(like bernie does) then you can say these things without being a communist..if i remember well this man right here is a market centrist..how come all of a suddenn he advocates for a lot of socialism(government taking over means of production and centrally planning production and logistics whitch off course is a very reasonable temporary measure analogous to a very extreme problem)..shouldnt anyone do the same analogically to the problem they are dealing with based on performance and not ideological bias? isnt m4a way better than the current system in terms of cost and ease of access to everyone and better care based on all metrics and comparison with other countries like canada australia etc???By the way this is how ideological bias comes in play , against all common sense and delays critical decision taking that will eventually cost way more in terms of lives and the economy as well..note how governor Cuomo says he wouldnt hesitate a second to do it now..what about 2 weeks ago before face to face with disaster..

  24. Watch the science! It is NOT only the elderly and those with co-morbidity who are dieing. Look to Italy .Watch Peak Prosperity and Dr. John Campbell for rational data with sources so you can research for yourself (YouTube ). I hope the U.K. is not going to rely on “ herd” immunity. South Korea has taken some amazing decisions. Their quarantines have nearly eliminated the regular flu. Italian doctor reported taking 65 year old patients off ventilators to save 45 year old patients. If we stay separated,as much as possible, wipe down what we bring into our home we can delay our own possible infection to a time when therapeutics are available and our medical system is more stable.

Cuomo knows how to play the game but inside I think he wants to punch this guy out- for being s narricist and being a dictator type – CUOMO is not the boss of me. 28. Anti price-gouging laws ensure that vital supplies are consumed immediately in an emergency.
In a crisis, it is obvious that supplies of urgently needed goods will be limited, so instead of buying what you need at inflated prices (i.e. just getting 3 or 4 of gallons of gas at $20 per gallon after a hurricane), price-gouging laws encourage you to buy as much of a vital good as you can, even if you don't really need much (or any at all), thus ensuring that stockpiles are immediately wiped out. Also note that large profits from inflated prices ensure increased production/distribution, and thus a quick end to the shortage.

  29. Cuomo is driving hysteria. Across China this entire crisis will end up taking the lives of less than 4,000 people. In South Korea, it looks like the final death toll will be under 200. Taiwan and Singapore have this licked too; not all of them even shut down restaurants and airports. China's factories are already back up and running, so are South Korea's. Meanwhile Cuomo wants to go to the 4th degree.

I strongly doubt we will regret temporarily nationalizing certain industries, but we will probably regret losing loved ones because we didn’t. We will be lucky if we can even produce enough machines and supplies to save the people we love regardless of what we do.

  39. It's not hard? Gov Cuomo, you are out of touch. Building things requires tooling. Tooling takes times. A random "manufacture" can't just start building something they aren't tooled for because you tell them they have to. Anyone in this country with the tooling in place to build these items is certainly already doing so as fast as they can, because there is demand for it and profit to be made. Nationalizing it will actually reduce the incentive to produce.

Partnerships to get companies up and producing these can and should be arranged with factories that can quickly transition, but mandating production and nationalizing the production and distribution of equipment everywhere is unlikely to produce better results than the free market. You sound like Wesley Mouch.
