  3. Well Rick, the thing is, a lot of people lately seem to be re-visiting Marx. You might find that your attempt at demonization backfires.

  4. By that he sought to eliminate the capitalist class, and only have the 'working class' (those who do the job with the hands or minds). Also middle class in Marxist terms would be petty bourgeoisie. Santorum is anti-Marxist while knowing nothing about Marxism whatsoever. I even hate it when he says something that I agree with because I want to keep my distance from Santorum. fyi you can't get rid of class you maybe able to get rid of some of the barriers though

  5. More or less you are correct. Marxism was never really implemented because it was last option to solve a horrible gap between rich and having scraps. Karl Marx didn't predict: Unions, and collective bargaining. The focus on the class over their own property was the ultimate goal but except for the very very few people around the others had NOTHING in terms of property. At the time it seemed to be a promising option.

  6. The day "Frothy" Rick Santorum declared he did not want everyone to have an education is the day he endorsed the separation of classes and class warfare.

  7. The thing is the republican and libertarian parties want to keep those barriers in place, claiming it's for "freedom".

  11. And the Republicans wonder why they lose. Really Santorum is the best they have? This guy has to be one of the dumbest fucks ever to draw breath.

  12. Another thing this guy said "since when in America do we have classes…uh I would say since day one…we just dont have a" caste" system here like some other places as has already been mentioned by another commenter. You would think Santorum knows that.

I know, we'll just replace the entire language with primitive grunts and body language! YEAH, that'll work! YOU CAN'T SNEAK NO MARXISM INTO GRUNTS! Oh, dear me! PLURALIZING words makes groups of them!

OH NOES, I'M TURNING INTO A MARXIST!

  15. It's funny because most people attacking marx and marxism don't know anything about it.
I personally have several issues with the philosophy, mainly because its models couldn't have taken into account the modern world, but it is largely sound, well intentions and certainly not evil.
Marx should be considered an extremely important thinker and taken seriously, instead he is demonised. (despite a lot of his ideas being pretty well accepted)
    Sad indictment on humanity.

  16. Besides the misunderstood Marxism statement he made, it's rather disturbing that almost everything he accuses the Left being and doing is actually what the Right is and is doing. I've found that a trend over the years of rightwingers accusing liberals of being racist and full of hate and violence which is basically what most people think of when they think of rightwingers. Somehow liberals pushing for equality and peace makes them racists and warmongers – uh, yeah…. These righties need help

  23. This asshole has an MBA from Pitt and a JD from Penn State's law school. I get the feeling that a lot of guys like him on the far right are a lot smarter than they let on. I think their constituencies are so stupid that politicians who choose these districts have to pretend to be mentally deficient to get votes. His tactic is to passionately argue nothing while demonizing Liberals. His constituency will vote down a reasonable candidate for a passionate rambling one every time.

  24. Someone should tell Mr. Santorum that even the Bible asserts there are 3 classes, else why are there 3 different offerings in Leviticus? Bulls for the rich, sheep for the trade class, pigeons for the poor. Jesus, a carpenter, was a part of the trade or middle class.

  28. lol, I so agree. I respect republicans love of Les a faire capitalism but all that happens when capitalism is left to it's own devices with little taxing is Coca-Cola and Wallmart become the government. They become a weed that chokes out the sun so nothing else can grow but them.

They scream communism every time a socialistic program is put in place to protect the average Joe at the expensive of a "job creator" but they don't seem to understand what an industrial emperor is.

  29. Marxism is an ideology that promotes a classless society, dumbass. Marx made the mistake of attatching a few rather unrealistic notions. The core idea of a clasless society is something america should go toward if this country is to be anything like it promises.

    Reply

  30. Marx did make a few rather unnecessary additions to his idea but at it's core marxism is a good idea. A classless society however does sound more like a utopian notion however, the best we can do is a socialist model like we had in Eisenhower's day. Since then we've had the added benefit of civil rights for many different segments of the population added in so if we were to switch back to Eisenhower's economic policy and keep with the social policies made since the 60s we would be in good shape.

  31. I think you have misunderstand the whole thing. Class mobility in USA is very low and what choices you do doesn't affect your class so much as where you was born and by who you was born and it is reports from IMF and OECD and i wouldn't call them Marxists. With the Neoliberal politics of the European Rightwing and US democrats and republicans has class division increased and is soon in the area we had under the old feudal system. The prekariat and underclass is the fastest growing classes.

  32. I don't think having an MBA and a JD means you are a genius…But you do have to have half a brain to be able to get through rigorous programs like those. And someone with half a brain wouldn't make and believe the moronic statements that Santorum does. But it really doesn't matter how smart Santorum is. The point is so many far right Republican congressmen either have to be retarded or act retarded to gain the respect of the dumbest constituencies on the planet. Blame the public not the Reps.

  33. Yeah, either they're smarter than they act (Bill O'Reilly has a degree from Harvard but doesn't understand tidal force, really?) or they manage to use nepotism and wealth to get degrees. Probably some blend of both.

But i love to watch your politics, its a kind of masochism i think 🙂

    Reply

  36. It takes wealth to build a company. Bill Gates would have been wealthy no mater what he did. He was born in to wealth. Where is class located? You gave a good example in the form of Bill Gates.

    Reply

  37. In reality Bill Gates was born in to wealth. You are the one who used him as an example for a classless society. Look at wealth distribution in this country. If you where right what would you see? We have about 300 million people in this country. 47 million are on food stamps. 77% of Americans are living pay check to pay check. Is class sufficiently located for you yet?

    Reply

  38. Bill Gates was born in a wealthy family to begin with. Class is not something you detect with some instruments as telescope. but you can clearly see classes if you look into ppls wealth and power. Even organizations as IMF and OECD acknowledge class are they Marxist or is it so they understand statistic and data that show classes. Class is a social economic construct so it could be removed but it mean you need a different economic and political system.

I got an idea, it's pretty wild but, if people do not go to any of his lectures, stop any requirement to force others to listen to him, don't listen to him or tune off any station he is on and ignore the crap out of him. That is the only thing you can do with guys like this. People like that are the reason for so much hate in the world.

    Reply

  41. He tries to be a really deceptive guy, but smart enough ppl can see past it. He takes Obama talking about the middle class and flips it around; instead of addressing real problems the middle class face he gives fake outrage and acts like the term "middle class" is demeaning. He's a piece of shit on two legs.

  42. It's hilarious that he's framing this opposition to "dividing America" in the context of his own "us versus them" divisive attack. The scary thing is that anyone could listen to this and be persuaded by it. There will always be a nut on the street corner holding a sign and screaming nonsense, but it seems to be the thing to do with the GOP to actually elect them into office. This guy is the K Street scumbag behind untold corruption and is a religious nut to boot.

  46. Yeah I suppose you are right. With our absurdly large and expensive army, navy, and airforce (our navy is larger than the worlds combined, yet Rick Perry probably would raise my taxes to make it bigger) our stupid people can become dangerous. Don't worry though. The American people lost their stomach for war years ago when we got sick of the 2 wars sucking our coffers dry. I just hope our officials hear us.

  47. Its surprising how often democratic governments employ policies that would not survive a referendum of the people . Rick perry is your classic dumb person who is just clever enough to understand the power of ideas and the power that can be gained over other dumb people with them . And you find them everywhere .

  48. His particular strategy is to harness the power of religion to make him legitimate. Our country as not as secular as our English speaking brothers across the Atlantic. A lot of people that you see like this were successful because their states or districts have large swaths of evangelicals as constituents. When those people can be convinced of your Christianity and "family values" they will vote for you regardless of what you advocate.

  49. Am i overreacting to what you just wrote when i say i find that all a little scary . Stupid people with power 🙁

    Reply

  50. I would hardly say you are overreacting. If you are not scared you are part of the problem. Fortunately despite our portrayal in many European countries we are not all fat bible beating idiots. You will be happy to know that within American political circles it is widely thought that these people and their ideologies are declining. The American right has to resort to voter suppression and endless ads funded by billionaire allies just to survive.

Hopefully still better than the Bush/Blair years but idk. Do you watch the news? If so what are they saying these days? I hope our reputation isn't too bad!

  53. I can only give you my opinion and judgement and i would say the Bush years have seriously poisoned the water and that poison has different affects on different nations , us Brits are still at the stage of clutching are guts throwing up in the bucket . As far as Obama is concerned i think people think after all the razzmatazz he's a lame duck with no power and people think racism probably . Public opinion about America is generally good though

    Reply

  54. Well to be fair he IS a weak president. Its not completely his fault though because the right is willing to bring the American system to its knees financially just to block his initiatives. I'll give you an example, he tries to pass healthcare, they try their damndest to defund it. His allies in Congress try to pass a law, they will filibuster and argue until nothing can move forward. It definitely could be racism too. Anyway glad the British public likes us. Kind of important as our top ally!

  56. Yeah I agree with you. I said as much in my comments. I still would like to see him and the democrats do more though. They have more power than they act like.

    Reply

  57. See that's where you are wrong. They could temporarily stop the filibuster so the republicans will stop abusing it. Even the threat of doing that might make the republicans clean up their act.

    Reply

  58. Oh we mostly agree. Its just if I was Obama I would stop carrying about republican tantrums, take away their filibuster, tell the American people how they are abusing it and get things done. But then again maybe he knows something I don't.

  60. No way Jose; Rick Santorum may have a pretty face but he is part of the revolving door Washington politics as usual problem. He is an influence peddler "Middle Man", special interest representative, selling Washington influence to the highest bidder. This guy is not it. He represents the Status quo in Washington.

  61. "You're in a group of students." Oh, haha. Did you COMPLETELY miss the point he was making, about class stratification? Apparently so.

I suggest that you decide whether you're trying to be serious (ie, knowledgeable about your subjects)), or whether you're just trying to be a comedian, because you seem to be confused… and frankly, you're not doing a very impressive job at either. I can see why having a laughing hyena or two on the sidelines might be needed to try to spice up the show a bit, but your mediocrity is showing.
