Soviet song (1941) – The Guard song (English subtitles)

Comrade tankmen! People’s Commissar of Defense, Comrade Stalin, issued an order: “For the skillful combat actions, the 4th tank brigade should henceforth be called the 1st Guards Tank Brigade”. Our comrades won honor and glory by their military actions. Let’s fight so that the People’s Commissar, our Father, our Stalin told us: “Good job, guardsmen!” And so that Guards banners will fly over us! So that thunder of Russian “Hurray”. …Oh, the combat and formidable
Red-star force invincible,
Stalin’s Guard – Go ahead, ahead! Oh, the combat and formidable
Red-star force invincible,
Stalin’s Guard – Go ahead, ahead! To the firing blows at the enemy,
To victorious storming the hills, To the dashing attacks, to the feats of arms
The weapons were given to us. In regiments and battalions
With Guards banners yes we go… –Thank you, brothers! Thank you, heroes! We’re waiting for you. With you we will win! …Oh, the combat and formidable
Red-star force invincible,
Stalin’s Guard – Go ahead, ahead! We will not let the enemy stay here
On the Soviet native shore. The guards don’t retreat,
The guards don’t concede
To the foe neither freedom, nor honor. In regiments and battalions
With Guards banners yes we go.
Go to fighting, brothers! Stalin leads us! Oh, the combat and formidable
Red-star force invincible,
Stalin’s Guard – Go ahead, ahead! Oh, the combat and formidable
Red-star force invincible,
Stalin’s Guard – Go ahead, ahead!
