I think right now we have a very information-based culture. Like Facebook, Instagram.. we are constantly being fed information. And I think one of the most important parts of studying the humanities is the learning to think critically about all of the information that is being thrown at us constantly. And being able to parse between what is important information and
what’s not, what’s true, what’s not and I feel like that’s becoming more and more critical as we.. …we are kind of veering toward a post-truth society. In addition to that, I think writing is a very critical skill to have, and that is something that is very emphasized within humanities. Beyond writing emails, and papers, and articles, writing is very central to how we live now. And it is a skill that you really need to master in order to get ahead today. Even if you are STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering and Math] I think it is important to be able to engage with the skills you learn in the humanities.
